Obituary for Annie Dean Self (Tallent)

Annie Dean Tallent Self, age 91, of Warsaw, passed away peacefully early Wednesday morning, October 12, 2016. She was born in Warsaw on July 25, 1925 to George and Geneva Tallent. Annie loved watching the Gameshow Network but from 7:00 to 8:00 pm. each day she didn’t miss Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. She was a long time member of the Tappahannock Moose Lodge and she retired in 1987 after 25 years at the Virginia Elastic Plant. Annie was very much loved by her family and friends and returned that love to all, especially her children.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Stuart W. Self; granddaughter, Vickie Boothe Savalina; two sisters, Nellie Swann, and Florence Burton; and one brother, Bobby Tallent.

She is survived by her three children, Barbara Boothe (Eugene), Edward Self (Kathleen “Cissy”), and Ralph Self (Carol); six grandchildren, Lynn Boothe Ambrose, Steven Self, Chris Self, Justin Self, Johnny Boothe, and Katie Self Hamilton; fifteen great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild (with the second due in November); one sister, Marie Tallent Conner of Arkansas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 14, 2016 at 2:00 pm at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Nomini Grove with the Rev. Dr. Christopher Agnew officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 13, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Welch Funeral Home, Marks Chapel.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to each and every one of the Hospice nurses of Riverside Tappahannock Hospice.

Annie was a devoted member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Nomini Grove and requested that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to “her little church” c/o Charlotte Hutt, 1819 Neenah Road, Montross, VA 22520.
