Carol Susan Caldwell, 72, of Hague, VA , wife of Stafford Douglas Caldwell, passed away on Monday, October 10, 2016 at her home surrounded by family. After a long career in Hawaii as a florist for Hyatt Resorts, Carol moved to Stafford, Virginia in 1991 where she continued to work in floral design. She moved to Fredericksburg in 2000 where she worked as an accountant for the Spotsylvania County School System. Upon retirement in December 2015, she moved to Hague, Virginia. She was a member of Cople Parish.
Carol is survived by her husband, three daughters, Rebecca S. Manicone (Nick) of Vienna, VA, Kimberly S. McGehee (Brian) of Fredericksburg, VA and Alison C. May (Douglas) of Gainesville, VA; and sister, Helen Marie DeChant of Elizabethtown, NY. She is also survived by four granddaughters, Sophia E. Manicone, Isabel (Izzie) J. Manicone, Abigail G. McGehee, and Savannah V. McGehee with whom she loved sharing her passion for animals, nature, flowers and art. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl Albert DeChant (Kalajainen) and Kathryn Holden DeChant .
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at Yeocomico Episcopal Church, 1233 Old Yeocomico Road, Kinsale, VA with Rev. R Ellen White officiating.
