Edward Allison Cheney of Warsaw, Virginia, died peacefully on August 11, 2016 after a courageous struggle with age-related illness. A native of Bow, New Hampshire, Ed and his beloved wife, Jean, resided in Baltimore MD before retiring to Warsaw in Virginia’s Northern Neck. He graduated from University of New Hampshire, earning a degree in Electronics Engineering; served honorable in the U. S. Navy on destroyer duty in the Pacific Theatre during World War II; was employed as an Electrical Engineer for more than thirty years at the U.S. Army’s Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Maryland, where he worked in development of satellite science and technology; and was a long time devoted member of Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church at Nomini Grove, Virginia.
Mr. Cheney was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jean; his parents, Henry A. Cheney and Helen Brown Cheney; and brother, Robert P. Cheney, Sr. He is survived by one brother, Arthur Cheney, of Bow, New Hampshire, and numerous nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces (on both the Cheney and Garland sides). He also leaves a number of dear friends, especially his long-time care-givers, who are saddened at his passing but mindful of the joy in having known such an exceptional person.
A funeral service is scheduled for Sunday, August 28, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church at Nomini Grove, Virginia (w/ interment to follow at a later date).
