Lillian Hinson Newton, 94, of Montross, widow of John Norton Newton, passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2015. She was employed at Naval Surface Warfare Center as technical writer and Equal Employment Opportunity Coordinator and was a life long member of Nomini Baptist Church. She was past president of King George Chamber of Commerce, King George Planning Committee, Silver Hair Legislature and King George Toast Masters Club.
She is survived by a son, N. Byrd Newton and wife, Mary Sue of Kinsale; daughter, Wanda Atkins and husband, Dean, of King George, VA. Also surviving are grandchildren, Jennifer Dean Lanz (Rob), James English Newton (Aby), Emily Newton Laux (Kyle), James Norton Atkins, Justin Blake (Kate), Julia E. Roberson (Colin) and great-grandchildren, Ian Lanz, Evan Lanz, Brady Newton, Edward Laux and Travis Atkins.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 18, 2015 at Nomini Baptist Church, Montross, VA. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from one hour prior to the service at the church.
